Transport and notification
Bales in a ship's hold By road and by sea, on full ships of 3,000 to 5,500 tonnes or in containers. We handle the notification for waste shipments abroad ourselves: from obtaining the financial guarantees and preparing the whole notification dossier to securing consent for the transboundary shipment. And, of course, their transport and destination.

Loading big bags into the container We arrange the rental and placement of roll-off containers and compactors and loading with grab-crane hook-lift trucks, and we carry out turnkey clearances.

World Recycling is an Italian company based in Lucca. It was founded in 2012 by Raffaello Cortopassi, who has worked for many years in waste treatment and trade.
With a team of professionals we follow your waste from where it leaves you until it has been recovered (recycled or turned into energy) or disposed of: we find the right destination and arrange the transport, in Italy and abroad.

Where your waste goes
For each type of waste we find the right destination. Each destination matches an operation with an official code: D for disposal, R for recovery.

In landfills in Italy, for mainly non-hazardous waste.

Waste-to-energy bunker (R1) R1: Energy recovery in waste-to-energy plants
Mainly in Northern Europe, for non-hazardous waste: they produce electricity and heat.

Shredding waste R3 R12 R13: Treatment and upgrading in plants
In Italy and in the partner countries. Some plants mix the waste with other waste to produce SRF (solid recovered fuel), which replaces fossil fuels such as coal and petcoke.
We also work with MBT plants (mechanical biological treatment): we collect the dry and the wet fraction, stabilised in biocells, and arrange their transport to landfill or to energy recovery. Read the official definitions of the codes

Turnkey clearances
Need to clear out a warehouse? We come with our own workers and sort the waste on site by type, building a separate heap for each. Then we load the vehicles and take everything to recovery or disposal plants.
The more mixed the waste, the more it costs to dispose of and the more it pollutes. Separating it saves you money, and each material is recovered better.

Every type of waste is identified by a six-digit code from the European List of Waste, known in Italy as EER (Elenco europeo dei rifiuti). In older documents you will find the abbreviation CER: that was the list's name before it became EER. Here are a few of them, in ascending order with their official descriptions.
